STRATEGIC PLAN TOWARDS FACILITATING SELF STUDY COURSE ATTENTION AND ACTION: STUDENTS / MENTORS / PROCESS OWNER SUBJECT: SELF STUDY COURSES BY MAXIMUM STUDENTS

Importance and relevance of ongoing self study opportunities for any students is second to none. Please go through the attached guidelines. See how it is applicable to semester 4 students. It is rather mandatory for them to do online courses during professionals program. Students were told about the same in the induction program (Diksharambh) but we need to facilitate the process systematically. Very few of the students have already enrolled / completed but we do not have consolidated update

Target

95% of the batch enrolling and 80 % of the batch completing before they are rolled out.

Process owner

NK: requested to collect data from students on it and take up facilitating the process of enrolling other students for either SWAYAM or other self study courses. Course could be online – off line and be either about rehab or any of the life skills. It could be paid or fee types.

Objective

To facilitate additional learning over and above the syllabus needed for the profession of teaching.
To provide habit formation opportunity to keep empowering self though lifelong learning.

Operational definition

Self study course: Online or offline formal certificate course completed by the students which is beyond the mandatory and prescribed syllabus. It could be related to special education or professional growth or a life skill. Platform could be SWAYAM, UDEMI etc.

Strategies to achieve objective would include (list not exhaustive)

  • Inform students about it
  • Monitor them enrolling it
  • Facilitate completion with the help of mentors
  • Arrange for PC in our computer lab for those who do not have access to PC at home
  • Update undersigned about the progress
  • Consolidate data and upload on the website
  • Share MOOC course list with students
  • Periodic update
  • Involve student council in the process.
  • Indicate specified time is weekly TT

More than making the activity mandatory, we have to understand that online courses are the way forward for our students and it is for their benefit that we will have to facilitate the process. Reach out to your mentors or NK for further details. All the best and happy learning!

CIRCULAR 4 OR 19, 5/4/19, SWAYAM SELF STUDY

Self study courses are the need of the hour. We have decided and are committed to facilitate the enrollment and completion of self study courses by maximum students.

UGC has launched SWAYAM Portal and HACSE is part of the system now. Principal has been registered as the nodal point for the same. Please go through the upcoming MOOC options for 2019. (attached)

Faculty and / or students can enroll as per areas of interest. Forward the same through mail and whatsapp to current students as well as the alumni.
Mentors, follow up with students and get back if any problem.

SWAYAM is one of the effective platforms. But encourage students to follow the other options as well.

Hope all of us take advantage of this step forward by the UGC in empowering students. Each student must complete at least 1 self study course during the span of 2 years. SUBMIT CERTIFICATE TO NK.
