Zardosi Work

Zardosi or Ari Work is a kind of hand embroidery with gold and silver threads. This craft was believed to be introduced in the medieval times during the reign of Mohammad Bin Tughlak.

Embroidery done on velvet, satin or any other heavy material came to be known as Zardosi. The work is done by laying the gold threads over the material. Zardosi used to be a work beauty combined with display of wealth, but today other materials are used instead of gold.

The earlier artisan of Zardosi used only exclusive resham thread and wire hand embroidery on materials. The designs were original and mainly of royal taste. Wealth was displayed in garments worn by men and women. But today’s Zardosi Work, we can witness a blend of the past with the present, the old with the modern, the north with the south and the east with the west. Today, Zardosi has become a well-known and fashionable hand embroidery.

Our educators will help the students learn this unique skill and become the successful craftsmen.

Block Printing is a very typical way of decorating fabrics in India. It is a lengthy process. First the blocks have to be designed and carved out of wood, and then they are brushed with dye and printed onto fabric.

Block Printing is popular because of the rich and vibrant colours. Originally natural dyes were used but today they have been replaced by chemical and artificial colours. This unique art is taught in unique way at our center.

Typical quilting is done with three layers, the top fabric or quilt top, batting or insulting material and backing material. The quilter’s hand or sewing machine passes the needle and thread through all layers and then brings the needle back up. The process is repeated across the entire piece where quilting is wanted. Quilting is done on bed spreads, art quilt wall hangings, clothing, and a variety of textile products. This art is being taught in our center by specially trained teachers.

Our Project Works

The school has a practice of undertaking different real life projects. This helps the students to gain more practical knowledge and provide them an opportunity for earning while learning. Following are the few project works that are going on at present.

Rakhi Project

Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. Rakhi is the physical symbol of the emotions involved with the festival. The emotions of love, affection and care. It is the sentiments that matter on this day and what can be better expression of the sisterly love than a colourful Rakhi.

Rakhi is generally a decorated silk thread. It may be simple thread or it may be decorated with beads or designer motifs, religious symbols or even studded with jewels. We take a bulk orders from the shops and design the Rakhis according to the market trend. All our students are involved in this project and paid accordingly.

Diwali Lamp Project

Diwali or Deepavali is the most popular festival of Hindus. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Diya or Deep is a small earthen lamp that is lit especially during this festival. Diyas or Deeps are usually made of clay. Ghee or oil is used as the fuel and cotton wool as the wick.

Beautifully crafted Diyas beckon the attention of people. In our center, we accept the bulk orders for our brilliantly crafted diyas. We also sell them directly if there is a demand from the customers.
