Chembur Colony Yuvak Mandal

Driven by the vision of 'bigger dreams for larger number's, the Chembur Colony Yuvak Mandal (CCYM) touches various walks of modern life including health, education and habilitation. Being one of the leading non-profit organizations in Mumbai, CCYM is involved in several kaleidoscopic social and educational activities since 1953. The trust is registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 (No. 3441 of 1955 - 56) and Bombay Public Trust Act of 1950 (No. E - 1994 Bom.).

CCYM was established by Late Shri. Hashu Advaniji, a dedicated social worker, a renowned educationist and an Ex - Finance Minister of Maharashtra. The trust started functioning with twin objectives :

  • To provide healthy sports environment to the youth.
  • To organize and involve the youth for the service of the society.

Initially, its main activities were related to rehabilitation work for the displaced people who had migrated from Sindh and Punjab after the partition of the country. Now it is engaged in a range of social and educational activities. Its edifying activities focus mainly on the education of students with hearing impairment, one of the underprivileged communities of the society.

The CCYM had a very humble beginning. When started, it was housed in rented hut - like premises. But today, it has its own Four - Storey building in the Collector's Colony, Chembur, which houses Rochiram T. Thadhani High School for the Hearing Handicapped, Hashu Advani College of Special Eudcation, Akar Health Club, Vivekananda Yoga Kendra, College Students Reading Room, Mind Computer Center, Vidyankur Classes, etc.
